Award Winning Community College Sustainability Programs

 

Four-year colleges get a lot of press for their work in sustainability, but community colleges have their share of success stories, so today some examples of community colleges who have been recognized for their sustainability efforts.

Montgomery County Community College wins second consecutive partner award for their bus service

 

Bruce Greenstein, Skyline College wins Sustainable San Mateo County Award 

Bruce Greenstein is an environmental science professor at Skyline College where he inspires his students to become leaders of energy-efficiency, green-business entrepreneurship and building performance. Professor Greenstein created the Solar & Building Science Learning Center at Skyline College to educate, train, and rejuvenate the green-economy workforce so they may address our current and future energy challenges, greenhouse-gas emission reduction goals, and overall quality of life for our community.

5 Illinois Community Colleges were awarded Gold Level recognition for their work at integrating sustainability throughout their campus and programs  These schools were:

 

Joliet Junior College – Joliet

Kankakee Community College – Kankakee

Lewis & Clark Community College – Godfrey

Moraine Valley Community College – Palos Hills

Waubonsee Community College – Aurora
